Get the most out of your STARSTEPS learning tower
How to get the most out of your learning tower
The STARSTEPS learning tower is more than just a step stool. It's a place where your child can participate independently, practice new skills, and experience genuine involvement. With a few smart choices, you can get the most out of it.
3 ways to use the learning tower
1. In the kitchen
This is where most parents start, and rightly so. Set the learning tower to the correct height so your child is at counter height. Let your child help with washing, mixing, measuring, or scooping. Little hands can do much more than you think, and real participation builds real pride.
Tips for the kitchen:
- Start with simple tasks like washing vegetables or stirring
- Give your child their own small cutting board and a butter knife for soft food
- Let them present the result to the rest of the family
2. As a play and creativity station
Move the learning tower out of the kitchen and place it by the table, window, or blackboard. Your child will now be at the right height to draw, cut, paint, or play. No more low tables that don't fit, no more chairs that are too high.
Tips for creative use:
- Combine it with a chalkboard on the wall so your child can draw while standing
- Use the learning tower with a light box or window frame for transparent play
- Adjust the height so the learning tower grows with the play project
3. In daily routines
The learning tower also works excellent in the bathroom by the sink or by the coat rack. Your child can wash hands, brush teeth, or hang up their jacket without asking for help. This kind of small independence makes a big difference in how your child perceives themselves.
Tips for daily routines:
- Set the learning tower to the height of the sink
- Let your child choose their own towel and cup
- Make it a fixed ritual, morning and evening
First time use: how to get started
Adjust the height before your child gets in. The ideal position is such that your child can lean on the worktop with slightly bent elbows. Too high is tiring, too low is inconvenient.
Let your child get in and out by themselves. The open front is specially designed for this. A little practice and it will come naturally. This also increases the sense of ownership.
Start with activities that you also enjoy. Your enthusiasm is contagious. If you are genuinely happy that your child is helping, your child will immediately feel that.
Adjusting the height
The STARSTEPS learning tower has adjustable supports on the sides. Lift the supports, slide them to the desired position, and lower them. Multiple positions are available, so the learning tower remains usable from toddler to school-aged child.
Regularly check if the position is still correct. Children grow quickly, and the right height makes the difference between difficult and effortless participation.
Maintenance and safety
The learning tower is made of durable FSC-certified wood. Clean with a damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners. Check monthly that all connections are secure. The maximum load capacity is 50 kg.
Always ensure the learning tower is on a sturdy, flat surface. On slippery tiles, you can use an anti-slip mat under the feet for extra grip.
